Description
The SUSTech - U.S. Youth Sports and Cultural Exchange Summer Camp is a 5-day short-term program to promote cultural exchange between Chinese and American youth through sports activities. The program aims to enhance mutual understanding, improve athletic skills, foster teamwork, and broaden international perspectives. The framework includes the following four modules:
1. Swimming Training and Competition Exchange:
(1) A 5-day intensive swimming skills training program led by professional swimming coaches to improve participants' techniques.
(2) Friendly competitions with the Shenzhen Youth Swimming Team to enhance athletic abilities and facilitate cultural exchange.
(3) Daily post-training sessions covering swimming theory, including swimming history, competition rules, and safety education.
2. Chinese Traditional Martial Arts Module:
(1) Classroom instruction and hands-on practice to learn basic moves and routines of traditional Chinese martial arts.
(2) Live demonstrations and guidance by martial arts masters to help participants experience the essence of martial arts.
(3) In-depth exploration of Chinese martial arts culture and philosophical concepts through the learning process.
3. Outdoor Sports Experience and Team Building:
(1) Customized outdoor activities such as ultimate frisbee, orienteering, hiking, mountain climbing, and rock climbing to enhance teamwork and survival skills.
(2) Team-building exercises to improve communication skills and collaboration among participants.
(3) Professional outdoor coaches to provide complete guidance and ensure safety throughout the activities.
4. Learning and Practice Exchange Module:
(1) A visit to Shenzhen People's Primary School for interactive activities with local students to deepen understanding of Chinese martial arts culture.
(2) A visit to the Shenzhen Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Association to watch martial arts performances by youth and participate in hands-on activities involving sports-related intangible cultural heritage projects.
(3) Practical activities designed to enhance participants’ cross-cultural communication abilities.

1. Age Requirement: Open to American teenagers aged 14 to 18.
2. Health Condition: Participants must provide a health certificate to engage in high-intensity physical activities.
