SUSTech has achieved several prominent milestones on its path to becoming a top global university. These indicators of the university's meteoric rise to academic excellence have come within 12 years of its establishment. It will continue to build a world-class research university that supports the development of Shenzhen as a pioneering demonstration zone and the industrial transformation of the Greater Bay Area and hope to see further climbs in the rankings.

In the latest Nature Index (Current Index: from 1 July 2021 to 30 June 2022), SUSTech ranks 30 in the world and 13 in China.

SUSTech's Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Geosciences, Materials Science, Computer Science, Environment/Ecology, Clinical Medicine, Immunology are rall anked within the top 1% in the world in ESI (Essential Science Indicators).
