SUSTech has achieved several prominent milestones on its path to becoming a top global university. These indicators of the university's meteoric rise to academic excellence have come within 15 years of its establishment. It will continue to build a world-class research university that supports the development of Shenzhen as a pioneering demonstration zone and the industrial transformation of the Greater Bay Area and hope to see further climbs in the rankings.

In the latest Nature Index (Current Index: from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025), SUSTech ranks 30 in the world and 13 in China.

SUSTech has 18 disciplines ranked in the top 1% in ESI(Essential Science Indicators), including Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Earth Science, Materials Science, Computer Science, Environment/Ecology, Clinical Medicine, and Immunology. Among them, Materials Science, Chemistry, and Engineering are ranked in the top 1‰.
