On the morning of November 4, 2025, Professor Mariana Seoane, Vice Rector and Dean of Dentistry at the University of the Republic (Universidad de la República, Udelar), Uruguay, visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

During the meeting, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on potential cooperation in areas such as academic exchange, joint research, and student mobility.

Dr. Jing Long introduced SUSTech’s distinctive features in education, research, and internationalization, highlighting its commitment to fostering global partnerships and cultivating innovative talent with an international perspective.

Prof. Seoane expressed her appreciation for the warm hospitality extended by SUSTech and introduced Udelar’s academic strengths and international collaboration initiatives. She noted that Udelar looks forward to exploring opportunities for cooperation with SUSTech, particularly in student and faculty exchange, as well as collaborative research.

The University of the Republic is Uruguay's largest and oldest public university, enjoying a high reputation in Latin America. This exchange will further enrich SUSTech's global partnership network and support the University's internationalization development strategy. Prof. Bi Zhang, Associate Dean of the College of Engineering; Prof. Feng He, Deputy Head of the Department of Chemistry; Prof. Yishan Zhao, Deputy Head of the SUSTech Arts Center; and Prof. Wenyong Zhang, Deputy Dean of the School of Medicine, participated in the discussions.
