On June 16, 2024, the delegation from a high school in Chicago, USA, successfully concluded their visit to Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). The seven-day program fostered friendships between young people from China and the United States, promoting deeper exchanges between the youth of Shenzhen and Chicago.

The visiting teachers and students attended an academic lecture by Associate Professor Luo Zhi from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, as well as a presentation by Chair Professor Zhang Chuanlun from the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering on the UN's "Ocean Decade" initiative and the international grand science project on ocean negative emissions. The group also toured the Cryo-Electron Microscopy Laboratory and engaged in meaningful exchanges with SUSTech professors and students. Throughout the program, the delegation gained an in-depth understanding of SUSTech's development, educational philosophy, and achievements in research and education. They experienced the university's modern facilities and academic environment, sparking their enthusiasm for scientific exploration.

The delegation also visited Shenzhen Senior High School's main campus, the Affiliated Middle School of SUSTech, and Shenzhen Senior High School's new campus, where they interacted face-to-face with local high school students. They participated in activities highlighting traditional Chinese culture, including Chinese martial arts, folk music, and tea culture. Through hands-on experiences with heritage crafts like rod puppet theater and cloisonné enameling, they gained a more vivid and profound understanding of Chinese traditions. The group also visited high-tech companies in Shenzhen, where they observed cutting-edge technology applications and experienced the dynamic environment of Shenzhen as China's hub for technological innovation.

The purpose of this program was to actively promote exchanges and cooperation between young people from China and the United States, strengthen the friendship between students from both countries, and enhance the high-quality international openness of education while advancing international educational cooperation and exchange.
