On March 10, 2023, Mr. Olivier Ngo, Scientific and Higher Education Attaché, and his delegation from the Consulate General of France in Guangzhou visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech). Prof. Weiwei Deng, Vice Dean of SUSTech Graduate School, and Dr. Hao Chen, Executive Deputy Director of SUSTech Global, welcomed the guests.

Olivier Ngo and his delegation observed the residential colleges, the stadium, and the exhibition of development and achievements of SUSTech.

Dr. Chen briefed the delegation on the current development of SUSTech and its wide range of international collaborations. He described SUSTech as a modern and rapidly expanding research university with a high percentage of international faculty. He expressed his hope that SUSTech would deepen its exchanges with French institutions, industries, and other forms of organizations and nurture top innovative talents with global visions in collaborative ways.

Prof. Weiwei Deng introduced the graduate programs at SUSTech and expressed his great interest in exploring joint programs with French universities.

Mr. Olivier Ngo spoke highly of the rapid growth and development of SUSTech. He acknowledged the university’s international standing and innovative approach and stated that there would be a lot of potential fields for collaboration between SUSTech and French institutions. He expressed his full support for boosting educational collaborations and scholar exchanges between China and France.

Other members of Mr. Ngo’s delegation included Mr. Peng Zheng, Higher Education Project Manager of the Consulate General of France in Guangzhou, Mr. Nylam Gauthier, Head of Campus France of the Consulate General of France in Guangzhou, Ms. Shiyun Zhang, Promotion Manager of Campus France of the Consulate General of France in Guangzhou, and Mr. Stéphane Joly, Director of the Alliance Française in Shenzhen.

Xingya Feng, Assistant Professor of the Department of Ocean Science and Engineering, also attended the meeting.
