UTS Delegation Visits SUSTech

On February 10, 2023, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for International/Vice President of the University of Technology , Sydney(UTS) Iain Watt led a 5-member delegation visiting the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).
Prof. Xueming Yang, Vice President of SUSTech for Research, welcomed the guests and introduced the latest research accomplishments of SUSTech. Dr. Hao Chen, Executive Deputy Director of SUSTech Global, gave a brief introduction to the development of SUSTech's internationalization. Prof. Weiwei Deng, Associate Dean of the Graduate School introduced the SUSTech fellowship program as well as other graduate ones.
Mr. Iain Watt spoke highly of the rapid growth and development of SUSTech, acknowledging the new buildings and research facilities on campus since his last visit. He stated that UTS and SUSTech have a lot in common: both universities are young, technology-focused and aiming at solving global issues and having global impact. He also expressed his hope that the two universities expand academic and research collaboration in the future.
Prof. Xueming Yang said that SUSTech would give full support to the research collaboration, hoping that the two universities would deepen the fellowship program.
SUSTech's Chair Prof. Baomin Xu from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Prof. Jianguo Zhang from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Prof. Changfeng Wu from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Assistant Prof. Weijie Yuan from the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering and the UTS' Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Partnership, Mr. Leo Mian Liu, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for China Enterprises, Prof. Chengqi Zhang, In-Country Diretor(China), Dr. Wanling Qu, and Ms. Zoe Zhang, Operations Lead, UTS Shenzhen Ltd. attended the meeting. They discussed the current state of cooperation and explored the possible opportunities for further collaboration in a variety of fields.
