University of California, Irvine (UCI) established in 1965, is one of 10 campuses in the University of California (UC) system, and one of the top public research university in the world. UCI is located in beautiful Southern California, southeastern 50 miles from Los Angeles, in Orange County, Irvine City. UCI grows fast due to great environment for study and surrounding by high tech companies in Orange Country known as “Silicon Valley” in South California. UCI ranked 7-th in the world and 1-st in the U.S. among schools under 50 years. Even though it is a young university, in 2016, U.S. News & World Report ranked UC Irvine tied for 39th among national universities and 9th among public universities in the U.S. UCI has beautiful campus, good public security, strong teaching resources, and a wide variety of extracurricular activities.
This program includes three stages:
Stage 1: Year 1-3 at SUSTC.
Stage 2: Year 4 at UCI through Academic Year abroad Program (AYAP).
This stage requires:
Students should complete all the course, diploma project and diploma dissertation (All courses given by Samueli School of Engineering are open to SUSTC students and senior students has to take Senior design course, which will help them to complete their diploma project and diploma dissertation.)
Complete 20-hour Academic and American Culture Course (AACC), GRE Preparation Course, and Workshop to help prepare MS application.
Take 1-2 elective graduate courses, and the credits can transfer to graduate credits at year 5 as an MS student.
Stage 3: The student has accomplished the requirement for graduation and achieved the Bachelor of Engineering of SUSTC at Year 5. UCI will confirm if the student conforms to admission requirement (GPA 3.2, GRE and TOEFL iBT score) for graduate student of UCI. If yes, this student will be enrolled as a graduate student in UCI, study one year in UCI and be awarded the Master’s Degree in UCI when complete the requirement to Master’s Degree.

10. Submission of application materials | Submit the Application Form to SUSTC International Cooperation Department (ICD), and a feedback will be given to the applicant after the application's confirmed by ICD with University of California Irvine.
